The Holy Spirit

Jesus, referring to The Holy Spirit, told the disciples just before ascending to heaven, the following "And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me." (Acts 1:8 KJV) "But ye shall receive power, after that The Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). The Promise of The father is The Holy Spirit.

Why we need The Holy Spirit presense in our lives:-

1. He will lead us to all the Truth.

He will reveal the Truth, Christ Jesus, to us. "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." (John 16:13)

2. He will help us please God.

The Holy Spirit in 2 Corinthians 4:13 is refered to as "The Spirit of Faith". Remember, without faith, its impossible to please God. He will help us to please God. He will show you and guide you into paths of holiness, paths of righteousness, all that are pleasing to God.

3. He will reveal to us things to come.

The Bible is 2 Peter 1:21, speaking of the Holy Spirit says "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" When He comes in our lives, He will give us gifts like prophesy. Paul in Corinthians admonishes to desire this gift. He says "Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy" (I Corinthians 14:1)

4. He will bring true fulfillment in Life.

When He comes into our lives, we experience true fulfillment. This is because His fruit becomes manifest. What is the fruit of The Holy Spirit "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law".(Galatians 5:22-23) Recall also that, The Joy of The Lord is our strength. We are not only fulfilled but also strengthened.

5. He will do much more than we can ever put down on paper.

He will intercede for us with deep groans. He will pray and petition God on our behalf. He understands what is on the heart of God. In 1 Corinthians 2:11, the Bible says "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." He is The Spirit of God.

Friend, without the experience and full embracing of the Comforter, The Advocate, The Counsellor, we will not live a life that appropriates ALL that Jesus Christ has for us. Ask God to fill you, baptize you and let you experience the wonderful presence and visitation of The Holy Spirit.

Let us pray

Father, thank you for this Great Friend. Our Advocate. Thank you for the encounter that I am going to have with the Person of The Holy Spirit. Jesus, you promised the disciples that they would receive Power when the Holy Spirit has come upon them. Since this was a Promise from The Father, we desire the same. Jesus, teach us the way that we should walk so that we may experience the visitations of The Holy Spirit. Jesus, You said "…. All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Mathew 28:18-19 KJV). We desire this Power to witness, help us appropriate it in Your Mighty Name, Amen. Jesus, like Paul, we desire that our testimony will not be with persuasive words only but in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power. Lord Jesus, where we have walked in weakness, be it in our homes, in our neighborhood, on our jobs, or in our church…Lord, we ask let your transforming Power touch us and change us and like Peter, let us never be the same again. Father, you say that all that believed and received you, you gave them Power to become the sons of God; Father this is our desire, to walk in the full Power of Sons of The Kingdom, in Jesus Great and Mighty Name, Amen. Father, open our eyes to the full revelation of your Power towards us that believe, in Jesus Name, Amen. In anticipation, Lord Jesus, we thank you for this month and the many to come, where we shall experience the Power and Presence of The Holy Spirit, in Your Mighty Name, Amen. Precious Holy Spirit, welcome, teach us, direct us and help us to appropriate the Power of God in Jesus Faithful Name, Amen.
