Bishop Eddie Long

Bishop Eddie Long serves as the visionary and the leader, of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church; a church he has pastored since 1987 where he started with a congregation consisting of just about 300 members and by God�s grace, New Birth now has multiplied to well over 25,000.

Taking Authority

Bishop Eddie L Long has led the church expansion program from a 3,700 -seat sanctuary in 1999 to a 10,000-seat complex completed in 2001. New Birth Missionary Baptist Church is located in DeKalb County, Georgia. Taking Authority is an award-winning weekly broadcast on Trinity Broadcasting Network that features Bishop Long. He admonishes people in 172 countries around the world to take the God given authority in their lives and to do with their lives all that God has ordained. (Jeremiah 29:11, John 10:10).

Family

Born in North Carolina, Bishop Eddie L. Long, studied for his bachelor�s degree in Business Administration from North Carolina Central University, he went to Atlanta�s Interdenominational Theological Center where he attained a Master�s of Divinity degree. Bishop Long and his wife Vanessa are the proud parents of four children: Eric, Edward, Jared and Taylor

Awards

Bishop Eddie Long was named as one of America's 125 most influential leaders and has received many awards in recognition to his world-impacting ministry, in 2004; Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth�s production team were awarded for an Emmy for �The Face of Homelessness.� Bishop Long was honored by the Center for Disease Control and the National HIV/AIDS Partnership (NHAP) for his outstanding work in fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS. In 2006, Bishop Long was honored by the King family to host and officiate the homegoing ceremonies for Mrs. Coretta Scott King, wife of the late Martin Luther King, Jr., historically attended by four Presidents (George Bush, Bill Clinton, H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter).
